Henkaus wins the Tahko Ski Lift pitching competition

Henkaus Oy, a company focused on remote vital signs tracking solutions, won the Tahko Ski Lift Pitch competition held in Kuopio on April 8. For a startup looking for growth finance, winning a pitching competition is expected to bring significantly more contacts and visibility both domestically and internationally.

To ensure the excitement of the competition, the number of competitors was eliminated round by round. Only three companies took part in the last roasting, from which Henkaus Oy was chosen as the winner. While describing the decision process, the jury told that they considered that Henkaus’ impact on the market would be the greatest among competitors. The company’s solution was also seen as different from other options and as a “game changer,” that is, changing the way things are done.

The company’s solution provides medical professionals, telemedicine and healthcare providers with accurate and objective information about patients and serves as a diagnostic aid and support for optimizing treatment pathways. The company is currently developing new features for its remote tracking solution.

– We are very pleased about the award and I’m sure that we will celebrate the winning with a proper sauna evening with our entire team, as soon as the Corona restrictions allow it. Our development team has done a terrific job and now the hard work has paid off, says CEO Abhishek Jayaprakash from Henkaus Oy.

Due to the pandemic, the Tahko Ski Lift Pitch competition was held virtually this year. Only the organizers and part of the jury were present in Kuopio. The startups and their support teams participated in the event remotely. All participants of the event were able to follow the presentations of the companies live on the internet.  They were also able to participate in partner clinics and bilateral meetings remotely as well. For start-ups, above all, the event provided opportunities to meet and build relationships with both business angels and venture capitalists.

A total of 28 companies from all over Finland participated in the pre-qualification arranged on the 24th of March. Of these, a total of ten companies entered the main event and the final. The following companies were chosen to the finals arranged on the 8th of April: AirO Oy, Connax Oy, Doerz CO Oy, Finnadvance Oy, Henkaus Oy, Jemma Oy, Mobile Reality Oy, Pindora Oy, R2Therapies and Sonai Health.

This year’s judges were Anssi Lehikoinen, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Osuuskunta KPY, Heidi Ahonen, Managing Partner of Nostetta Ventures Oy, Mika Sutinen, Partner of Vaaka Partners Oy and Chairman of the Board of several companies, and Jari Osmala, Chairman of the Board of several companies.
